Privacy policy
Magic Typing School. Effective 15 September 2026; updated 14 October 2026. English translation of the current Russian policy.
This page explains what data Magic Typing School collects, why, and how it is protected. The app is a typing practice tool for children. An account lets you continue on another device.
Data we collect
- Email registration: your email address and password. We store a one-way bcrypt hash, not the password itself.
- Google sign-in: the account identifier and email address that Google provides after your consent. We do not request or receive your Google password.
- Practice progress: completed lessons, stars, accuracy, streaks and settings. Without an account, progress is stored in your browser. With an account, it is also stored on our server. Russian and English courses and student/adult modes have separate progress.
- Technical session data: a sign-in session cookie, which does not contain personal details, and ordinary server logs such as request IP addresses, used to protect the service rather than for tracking.
- Practice statistics: events such as lesson starts and finishes, course, lesson number, stars, accuracy and duration. A random browser identifier is stored in browser storage and removed when site data is cleared. Events are linked to an account identifier when you are signed in. IP addresses are not stored in this events table.
- Short feedback: selected category, screen, course, lesson and practice mode; no name, email address or free text. Visit statistics include source/campaign tags and a technical page-session identifier. Detailed adult feedback submitted through the form is stored on our server: message, optional reply email, course and screen, technical browser identifier and date. The message and optional email are sent through Resend to the project owner for a reply. Message text is excluded from the statistics report. Do not include personal information about your child.
- Yandex Metrica is disabled. Visit data and session recordings are not sent to Yandex.
- News emails: only if an adult explicitly leaves an email address in the parent-page form and checks the consent box. It is used for occasional product news; reply to an email to unsubscribe.
What we do not do
- No advertising, advertising trackers or retargeting.
- No sale or sharing of your data with third parties for their own purposes.
- No collection of payment details: the app is free.
- No requests for data unrelated to the account or practice progress.
Why data is used
- To create and protect your account, verify email and reset passwords.
- To sync progress between devices.
- To contact you about the account, including verification and password reset emails.
- To improve practice using lesson statistics: where learners stop, accuracy and returns.
- To send product news to adults who subscribed.
- To read feedback and reply to an adult who provides a reply address.
Children and parents
The course is designed for children, but email registration and Google sign-in are intended to involve an adult. All lessons can be used without an account; progress then remains in that browser. Practice events are sent to our server as described above. If you have questions about your child's data or want it deleted, contact us below.
Third-party services
- Google: when you choose Google sign-in, processing follows Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts: the main app and Russian information pages load the Nunito font from Google servers, which your browser contacts directly. If the font is unavailable, a system font is used.
- Resend: delivers technical emails, including verification and password reset messages and detailed-feedback notifications to the owner.
No advertising services are used.
Storage and protection
Data is stored in a protected database on our server. Passwords are stored only as hashes. The website uses HTTPS. Access to the server is restricted.
Your choices
- Without sign-in, progress stays in this browser. Sign in online to save progress on the server and continue on another device.
- You can request deletion of your account and related data, or a detailed feedback message and its reply email, by contacting us.
- You can sign out at any time; signing out does not delete data.
- You can unsubscribe from news by replying to a message or contacting us; your address will be removed from that list.
Cookies and browser storage
A technical session cookie supports sign-in. Yandex Metrica is disabled; there are no advertising cookies. Progress, settings and the analytics browser identifier are stored in localStorage rather than cookies.
Policy changes
We update the date above when this policy changes and notify users in the app about substantial changes.
